'Dea Massage' during the Pregnancy is a special version of Dea Massage adapted to the specific needs of the pregnant woman, who can receive a complete and comfortable treatment on the massage table from the third month of pregnancy until the day of birth (the third month restriction has only the sense, for the pregnant, of having at least a gynecological examination that verifies and attests the physiological nature of her pregnancy and the absence of any specific contraindications to the Manual Massage).

The treatment consists of non-traumatic draining manualitities with moderate slip pressure, and may affect the entire body except the abdomen, although it is possible (and preferable) to concentrate it only on the parts of the body where the gestant senses it greater need. It can be fully applied in the supine and lateral position on the left and right sides, which makes it particularly comfortable in the last few months.

Dea Massage prevents and effectively counteracts stretch marks and teleangectasia (dilated capillaries). It also soothes dorsal pain and annoying sensations of itching or tension in the legs and breast (it also stimulates the tone of the breast, preparing it for breastfeeding).

To the Method of Dea Massage specific for the pregnant woman was devoted an entire chapter of the book "The Draining and Shaping Massage for Female Aesthetics on Scientific and Rational Basics," by Diego Zago, in Italian language, distributed in 'La Feltrinelli' libraries throughout Italy and on line, also in the Ebook version.

Description of Dea Massage during Pregnancy

Inferior Limbs - The lower limb draining massage can be applied with great benefit until day of birth and it has been specially designed to prevent the edema of the pregnant, the dilatated capillaries and stretch marks; it also removes annoying sensations of heaviness legs and contrasts water retention. The presence of a bigger belly doesn't entail any technical limitations on the massage table during the various phases of the massage, especially for the buttocks and the back of the legs and thighs, because the pregnant woman can stay in a comfortable position on the left and right sides. The massage part of the lower limbs may last for at least half an hour, until covering the entire duration of the massage which should preferably not last more than an hour.

Breast - Breast massage is especially important in pregnancy to prepare it for breastfeeding. The manualities stimulate its supportive structure on the insertion of pectoral muscles, drain the 'cup', to relieve the feeling of discomfort and heaviness that is particularly present in early months of pregnancy, and prevent the formation of stretch marks. Back - The back massage of the pregnant woman, who can be taken on both the lateral and the sitting position, has been studied to alleviate the lumbosacral pain of recent months and relieve tension at the top of the back (neck, shoulders, scapular area). It is always applied, however, in the sitting position at the end of the treatment for at least the last 5 minutes, to move gradually from the lying position on the massage table to the standing position at the end of the massage, useful in preventing the problems of a momentary hypotension for adapting circulation to a too sudden position change.

Face - The Dea Top Massage (to head, face and shoulders) or the Holoperceptive Dea massage of the face, especially pleasant and relaxing, can be validly integrated with the treatment, also to mitigate a local edema, and usually they are of short duration.

Arms and hands - The Massage of the arms and hands may be omitted, however, except for specific needs or demands, it's always marginal and of short duration.

Abdomen is never touched by the operator for a greater psychological tranquility of the pregnant. However, it is strongly recommended to apply daily a light massage, with natural oil, to prevent stretch marks even in this part of the body for the prevention of stretch markes.

After giving birth, however, this massage will be essential to promote the return of the abdomen to the previous conditions and to stimulate its subcutaneous tone thanks to specific draining, shaping and toning manualities.
